10 COMMANDMENTS OF THE TRI

To assure a safe & fun event for you & your fellow triathletes, please adhere to the following:

1. Read the information on this website in its entirety.

2. Listen to the course talk carefully.

3. Get body marked on Friday at the Expo. There will be long lines on race morning.

4. Arrive at the transition area early! Transition is open from 6:00am to 8:45am. If you get there late you may be shutout and prevented from racing. Allow lots of time for traffic, parking, getting to the site and getting your bike into transition.

5. Remember to bring along (2) water bottles already filled for the bike. Bring water to drink on the way to and before the race.

6. The transition area closes at 8:45am & re-opens at approximately 9:15am (after the last participant is out on the run), regardless of which wave you're in. Do not leave anything in transition that you'll need after you finish the race. For reasons of safety & fairness we will be enforcing this rule strictly. If you need to, adjust your travel, work or social plans around these times before you get to race day.

7. Take every opportunity to hydrate during the race. Do not rely on thirst to tell you when to drink. While biking, do not toss empty water bottles on the course. If you would like a second water bottle, you will need to add a second bottle cage to your bike. Water bottles on the road are a safety hazard.

8. If you get into trouble in the swim, stand up and/or signal to a life guard. If you experience mechanical difficulties during the bike carefully pull over to the right so as not to endanger other athletes. Then wait for the bike technical support van. Repairs should not be made on the course. Please move your bike onto the grass before attempting to make any repairs.

9. Keep to the RIGHT at all times on the bike course unless in the immediate act of passing. Always pass on the LEFT and then move immediately back to the right lane once you are sure you have safely cleared the cyclist you were passing. Use your voice to call out to people that you are passing and look over your shoulder before making a passing move. NO iPods, Walkmans or MP3 Players ON THE BIKE OR RUN COURSES!!!

10. After finishing be respectful of other athletes in the race. Please treat other athletes at least as well as you would like to be treated.

Have fun, be organized and stay safe.
